Ms. Ambrin Tariq Awan

Her experience of working in all organs of the state i.e. Legislature, Executive and Judiciary, extends more than a decade. She joined Government service as Assistant District Attorney in Government of the Punjab. Soon after, she was appointed as Section Officer (Legislation) in Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department through Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and started working in Civil Secretariat Lahore. In that capacity, her key contribution includes:

  • Legislative assistance to Punjab Assembly (in collaboration with Punjab Commission on Status of Women (PCSW)) on drafting of Punjab Family Courts (Amendment) Act 2015, Vetting and drafting of the Punjab Arms. (Amendment) Act 2015 etc.;
  • She was Focal Person of ‘Punjab Treaty Implementation Cell’ established for retaining the GSP Plus status of Pakistan. She was responsible for collection and compilation of data for European Union Score Cards, to brief different national and international delegations and briefing different Government Departments regarding implementation of United Nations Conventions containing rights of children, minorities, women and political & social rights of citizens of Pakistan; and  
  • Responsibility for vetting most of the contracts of Government of the Punjab pursuant to Public-Private Partnership; her substantial contribution includes vetting of Lahore Orange Line Train agreement.

In 2015, on her parents’ desire, she switched over to judiciary through proper channel and Presided over Civil Court, Magisterial Court, 489-F Model Court and Family / Guardian Court. In 2016 she was selected as Research Officer in Research Centre, Lahore High Court Lahore. In 2017 she again started serving in field.

Ms. Awan completed her schooling from American Lyceum, graduation from APWA College. She secured Top position in University of the Punjab LLB Annual Examination and was awarded Gold Medal, Laptop and Cash prize by then Federal Law Minister for Interior. She secured 3rd position in LLM Annual Examination with major subject of ‘Corporate Law’. She also did Masters in Political Science.

She started her career as academician and taught LLB, MBA and MS classes in leading institutions of the Lahore. Keen to read and write, her publications include Commentaries on Civil Laws, Criminal Laws and Labour Laws. In 2010 she got membership of Local Bar and also International Bar Association and inaugurated her Law Firm ‘Intax Corp Legal Solutions’ and secured retainership for providing legal aid to different  private companies for corporate work and Intellectual Property litigation and SECP work. 

Her probono work includes public interest litigation in apex courts on guardianship and gender difficulties. Her research work in her cases ‘ Ambrin Tariq Awan Vs. Federation of Pakistan’  was appreciated by the Full Bench of Federal Shariat Court in 2011 .Thereafter, She entered to Government Services.
